‘Romancing the Land’... a sellout!
Share
Welcome to Romancing the Land - my great love affair with rural Australia!
I have always had an affinity for bush poetry, classic Australian film, colloquial Aussie sayings and music that captures the unexplainable ways of bush people. From the ‘Clancy of the Overflow’ poem by Banjo Paterson to the Man from Snowy River films, the saleyards chatter and the banter of the cattle yards, a lot of the artworks and the titles themselves were nods to old classics as well as new.
‘Romancing the Land’ the exhibition, is a reminder that the romance of the land is in the everyday, the soft colours of dusk over the paddock, a quick nap under the shade of a blue gum tree or the stillness of cattle being spelled in the shade.
As I continue packing down my first ever solo exhibition and reflecting on what has been a mind blowing success, it would be rude not to thank all the wonderful Gayndah Gallery volunteers, my parents for their support and all the wonderful people who visited or purchased artworks.
From a complete sellout exhibition to an opening afternoon with over 100 people in attendance, returning to the Gallery where it all began for little Zarabella who won her first ever art prize, is a feeling I cannot describe and will not soon be forgotten.
Painting and bringing together over 25 originals in one space is no small feat… I must really love the challenge since I’ve booked two solo exhibitions for 2026, wish me luck!
Zarabella x
